Wrigley Company was founded by William Wrigley Jr. in 1891.
He was originally selling products such as soap and baking powder.
While selling baking powder, he started giving chewing gum free of cost.
Fortunately, people started liking the chewing gum more than the baking powder.
Later Wrigley started concentrating on the Chewing gum business.
Wow!
Today companies do a lot of market research to choose a product but still, the product fails in some cases whereas William Wrigley’s free product became very successful.
The idea of converting a free product into a sell-able product did not happen recently.
Mind you, it happened more than 100 years ago!
Today Wrigley chewing gum is sold in more than 170 countries.
